Reputation is an idle, and most false imposition; oft got without merit, and lost without deserving.

Iago, Act 2, Scene 3, Othello ~ William Shakespeare

The Inevitable is what will seem to happen to you purely by chance.
The Real is what will strike you as really absurd.
Unless you are certain you are dreaming, it is certainly a dream of your own.
Unless you exclaim - 'There must be some mistake' - you must be mistaken.

Things

There are worse things than having behaved foolishly in public.
There are worse things than these miniature betrayals,
committed or endured or suspected; there are worse things
than not being able to sleep for thinking about them.
It is 5.a.m. All the worse things come stalking in
and stand icily about the bed looking worse and worse and worse.

Otomo: You, get money from somewhere and buy some eyes so you can understand men!
Hasegawa: They don't sell those anywhere!
Otomo: I guess they don't... *Smirk*

Episode 4 ~ Mop Girl
Otomo: Seems to me, friendship between women is something like a condom.
Hasegawa: Huh?
Otomo: They keep telling you it's thin, it's thin, but when you do buy it and look it it's quite thick, and then when you try and use it, it tears easily.
In the end it can't meet up to standards.

Episode 3 ~ Mop Girl
Hasegawa: Help me! Please I beg of you!
Unless we stop it Jounouji Ayano will be killed!
Otomo: Are you alright in the head?
Hasegawa: It's from my dead... dead... grandmother who has become part of the thousand winds!
She appeared to me in a dream and told me!
Otomo: Hah? If you try to claim as being spiritual you won't be popular!
Hasegawa: I know about the girl you're going to meet now!
Otomo: Tch. Don't tell lies. Her and I are in a Secret Love.
Hasegawa: So, if I tell you her name you'll help me?
Otomo: Fine.
Hasegawa: The girl's name is... Josephine!
Otomo: *shocked* Eh?
Hasegawa: Fhu fhu fhuu~ *biig smile* Well, Let's go!
Otomo: You can't be right! I don't have time to play with you, idiot! *walking away*
Hasegawa: Granny... may a curse befall people who have bad hearts. *praying to the heavens*
How pitiful...
*pretending to be suprised*
HECTOPASCAL is!
Otomo: If you're going to say that it's ECTOPLASM! Stop being that creepy!

Episode 2 ~ Mop Girl
Hasegawa: *in a very passionate speech* To kill the one you love is not love!
It's just being an... ECOLOGIST!
Otomo: If you are going to say that...it's an EGOTIST!

Episode 2 ~ Mop Girl
Did you know?
About the duck-billed platypus and the spiny ant-eater?
It's said that they are considered strange.
They are mammals, yet they hatch from eggs.
But you know? They don't think they are the least bit strange.
Humans are the only ones who keep saying that they are strange.
It's humans who selfishly decided to call them strange.
For the duck-billed platypus and the spiny ant-eater, it's just annoying.
After all, they are trying their best to live.
You can't have your worth weighed through others eyes!
All you have to do is live your life to the fullest, right?

'You don't care now, do you? Not really care?
You must write your quota of pages tonight and the rest of us must shift as we can.
Well, we'll shift. I'd respect you more - oh yes, and envy you less - if you did care.'

'I care,' said Henry.

'You don't know what it means,' said Oliver briskly, turning his hands meditatively before the flames.

He said, 'People like me have very complicated feelings about people like you.
I'm aware that you don't really care whether I tell you about them or not -
you'd probably rather I didn't.
But I seem to share what's apparently a common urge to explain everything to you - to drop all my little worries and stoppages into the well of your considered silence.
Perhaps because one feels that since the worries don't worry you,
and the stoppages don't stop you, you've got time to make something of them,
whilst one gets on with the struggling.
Which I resent; but still, I talk.'

The Shadow of the Sun ~ A.S.Byatt
He had a vision of himself in his study, a dedicated and misguided Casaubon, and saw the precession of lives that he told himself his touch had withered - Caroline whom he had allowed to think that teacups - for him - were enough; Marget, whom he had thought arrogantly to solve by re-arranging on paper; Anna, who had gone pale in his shadow, and poked blindly about in no direction, a plant in a cellar.

The Shadow of the Sun ~ A.S.Byatt
Part of the trouble was that he was so upset that he had quite forgotten what he had been writing, and could not have summoned life or concentration enough to plan another paragraph; he saw his work now as he occasionally saw a novel the moment he had finished it - a grotesque parody of life, a string of words, selecting and obscuring facts to suit himself. And dead, dead, dead.

Goodnight & Go

Say goodnight and go

Skipping beats
Blushing cheeks
I am struggling
Daydreaming
Bed scenes in
The corner cafe
And then I'm left in bits
Recovering tectonic
Tremblings
You get me every time

Why'd ya have to be so cute
It's impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It's bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go

Follow you home
You've got your headphones on
And you're dancing
Got lucky
Beautiful shot
You're taking everything off
Watch the curtains wide open
And you're following the same routine
Flicking through the TV
Relaxed and reclining
And you think you're alone

Oh, why'd ya have to be so cute
It's impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It's bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go

One of these days
You'll miss your train
And come stay with me
(It's always say goodnight and go)
We'll have drinks
And talk about things and
Any excuse to stay awake with you
You'd sleep here
I'd sleep there
But then the heating may be down again
At my convenience
We'd be good
We'd be great together

Go...

Why'd ya have to be so cute
It's impossible to ignore you
Must you make me laugh so much
It's bad enough we get along so well
Say goodnight and go

Why's it always always
Goodnight and go
Oh, darling not again
Goodnight and
Go...

"No, of course you don't. You can't. I out to have seen that at first. You can't even begin to listen. What do you want to do?"

"I don't know." She hesitated, and then went on, driven. "But I don't want nothing. I want something, I want it badly. But I don't know what it is."

Oliver and Anna, The Shadow of the Sun ~ A.S.Byatt
Her view of love was still through the small end of the telescope; to be beautiful, it must be hopeless; if it looked, as Michael had, as though it might have been anything else, she took care to complicate it until it was safely impossible and remote again.

The Shadow of the Sun ~ A.S.Byatt
If I went away and lived my own life, she thought, I might manage to be everything I am, or have to be - and then I might see and not only remember having seen.
